He was the son of Virginia Chance and the late Bennie Chance Jr. of Harnett County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cape Fear Conference “A” Headquarters, 25 Beaver Road, Erwin, by the Rev. Felton Smith and Pastor Willie McLeod. Burial, with military honors, will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Bragg.
Survivors include his mother, Virginia Chance of Linden; brothers, Bennie Chance (Ciara) of Vero Beach, Fla., John Chance (Vivian) of Cameron and Kenneth Chance of Linden; and sisters, Bernice McNeill of Lanham, Md., Ella Brown of Linden, Belinda Jenkins of Spring Lake, Brenda Morris of Vero Beach and Elaine Campbell (Gary) of Clayton.
