Gretna…….Rebecca Berger Shelton, age 58 of Gretna died Thursday, September 28, 2017 following a short battle with cancer at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born September 26, 1959 in Danville she was a daughter of the late Hayward David Berger, Sr. and Frances Hudson Berger Midkiff. She was predeceased by a son, James Shelton and her step-father, Ellis Henry Midkiff. Mrs. Shelton was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna and was a computer programmer for BWXT. She was a member of the Gretna Chapter #118 OES and enjoyed reading, watching T.V, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Shelton of the residence; two sons, Andrew Shelton and wife, Mary of Ringgold and Brandon Shelton of Gretna; two daughters, Jessica S. Rigney and husband, Jonathan of Hurt and Rachel Shelton of Lynchburg; two brothers, David Berger and wife, Patricia of Moneta and Tommy Berger and wife, Janet of Chatham; and six grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by the Rev. Dr. Roy N. Ford, Jr. and Keith Motley.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Gretna Fellowship Hall and other times will be at the residence.
