Veteran WW II US Army - served in Japan as a military police officer.
He moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1958 and established a masonry and concrete construction business.

Preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Angela Travers Adkins, his sisters, June and Elizabeth; his brothers, Chuck and Kenneth; his son, Joseph Earnest Adkins; and by a son-in-law, Larry Phillippe.

Survived by his wife, Ruth, three daughters, two sons and daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a sister, and a brother.

He was cremated. Service and internment will be at a private cemetery, July 16, 2016 in Chuckey, Tennessee.
