Mrs. Della White Burt Evans, the daughter of the late Mr. Columbus and Mrs. Virgia White, was born January 24, 1900, in Attala County, Mississippi.

She united with the Center Church of God at an early age and later united with the Palestine M. B Church. She was a very faithful worker until death.

She received her early education in the public schools of Attala County. She attended Rust College, Holly Springs, Mississippi and Tougaloo College, Tougaloo, Mississippi. For many years she taught in public schools of Attala County.

In 1929, she was married to the late, Mr. Ples Burt. To this union, seven children were born. Three preceded her in death. In 1953, she was married to Mr. John Evans.

She departed this life, April 11, 1973, at the Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital, Kosciusko, Mississippi.

She leaves to mourn her departure: a devoted husband, Mr. John Evans; two sons, Mr. Freddrick Rochell Burt of Inglewood, California and Mr. Columbus Joe Lewis Burt of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two daughters, Dr. Virgia Darene Gumbrell and Mrs. Anna Vonceile Woodson, both of Jackson, Mississippi; three stepsons, six stepdaughters; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Zollicoffer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mrs. Luvenia Gregory of Kosciusko, Mississippi and Mrs. Leona Oats of Greenville, Mississippi; one brother, Mr. Henry White of Kosciusko, Mississippi. She also leaves eleven grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
