She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vienna, where she taught Sunday School for many years, member of the Johnson County Home Bureau, Democratic Women's Committee, which she served as Treasurer for many years. She loved crafts, flower gardening, crocheting and knitting. She was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Buncombe, to Samuel Fayette and Edith Reece ( Stewart) Elkins. She married Oliver Truman Dick on January 22, 1944, in Marion. He died September 22, 1980.
Surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Fayetta Elkins Ballard and Kenneth Ballard of Goreville; brother and sister-in-law, James Preston and Edith Elkins of Houston, Texas; Thirteen nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; two stepdaughters and step son-in-law. Helen Rothstein of Herrin and Patricia and Jay Rix of Marion; nine step- grandchildren; several step great-children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step son, Bon M. Elkins and Colin Elkins, and two sisters, Maxine McKenzie and Louise Parrish Henderson. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Bailey Funeral home in Vienna. Dr. Larry Orange, Rev. Bill Gholson and Dr. James cecil officiated. Burial was in Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.
