Elmer G. Rutz, 87, of Waterville, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997, at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home, Faribault.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, North Morristown, with the Rev. Michael S. Wallace officiating.
Burial at Concordia Cemetery, North Morristown.
Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Elmer Gustav Rutz, the son of Paul and Bertha (Schwichtenberg) Rutz, was born Dec. 14, 1909, in Morristown Township, Rice County. On Dec. 17, 1932, he married Elsie Schwichtenberg at Trinity Lutheran Church, North Morristown. She preceded him in death on June 27, 1992. He farmed in Morristown Township for many years. He and his brother, Arnold, operated Rutz Brothers Construction for many years, and were also commercial fishermen.
He is survived by two sons, Ralph of Waterville and Roland (and Carol) of Faribault; two grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Zitzmann of Brooklyn Park.
He was also preceded in death by eight siblings, Esther Rutz, Olga Wegner, Ella Plaisance, Hattie Holthus, Adeline Rutz, Arnold Rutz, Bertha Krenz and Helen Bloomer.
Funeral arrangements are by the Gill-Boldt Funeral Home, Morristown.
