Mrs. Aarvig, wife of Knute Aarvig of Willmar, passed away on April 27, 1921, after a lingering illness of cancer and anemia. Rachel Lugland Aarvig was born in LaSalle county, Illinois, January 2, 1858. At the age of three she moved with the family to Livingston Co., same state, and in 1900 to Kassuth County, Iowa. On October 13, 1879, she married. In 1915 the family moved to Willmar. The deceased leaves to mourn her departure besides the bereaved husband the following children: Bertha O., Fort Dodge, Iowa; Ole C. Aarvig, and Gusta R. Braddock, N.D.; Erick E., St. Olof, Iowa; Mrs. Alma Rytter, Clarence L. And Mildred I. At home; Elillian M., Everett, Washington; and Mrs. Bernice O. Stewart of Armstrong, Iowa. One son, LeRoy W. passed away before.
The funeral was held last Saturday afternoon at the home, 2 miles southwest of Willmar. Rev. Arnt Vaaler officiated. All the children except Ole and Elillian were at the home for the funeral.
Other relatives who attended were: a brother, Henry Luglan, and Bert Aarvig of Baldwin, Wisconsin. Brothers Joe, of Doliver, Iowa, and Ole of Mt. Vernon, S.D., and sisters, Martha Ellingson, Hubbard, Iowa; Malinda Olson, Humbolt, Iowa., and Mrs. Julian Schlosser of Pontiac, Ill., were unable to be present.
Three solos were rendered by Miss Anna Overgaard at the services. Interment was made at the Synod cemetery.
