Elon Galusha Truesdell died at his home in Castile, Wednesday, Sept. 12, 1900. He was a son of John and Betsey Webster Truesdell and was born in Warsaw, Sept. 24, 1826, and had spent the greater part of his life in this town. In 1870 he purchased the farm where he died, which is situated on the west side of Silver Lake at its head. He was married 3x; his first wife was Lucy Popple, by whom he had 3 children, who survive him, Marian, wife of E.A. Holbrooke of New York City; John W., who resides at Katonah, N.Y., and Frank of the U.S. Army, now stationed at Manila, Phillippine Islands; his second wife was Alida Barnes; the third, Inez Frazer, who survives him and who during his last illness gave him the most devoted care. He is also survived by 4 sisters, Mrs. B.F. Fargo and Mrs. Betsey Chamberlain of Warsaw; Mrs. Clark, Lansing, Mich., and Mrs. McCulloch, Gladwyn, Mich. The funeral services were held at his late residence, Saturday afternoon; Rev. George D. Miller of the Presbyterian church, Warsaw officiating. The high esteem in which Mr. Truesdell was held was truly attested by the large number of friends present from Warsaw, Wethersfield, Gainesville, Castile, Nunda and Perry. Interment was in Warsaw cemetery. Mr. Truesdell was a good citizen, a genial and kind hearted man and will be greatly missed, not only in his family but in the community in which he lived.
