Betty H. Barr, age 94, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Betty was born on July 22, 1923 in Joplin, MO, a daughter of the late Archie M. Webb and Johanna Mae (Noe) Webb.
On July 4, 1941, Betty married Blaine B. Barr, the love of her life, in Joplin, Missouri and Blaine passed away on May 25, 1998. Betty had retired as an emergency room clerk from Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL. She was a faithful member of Pontoon Baptist Church. Betty loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Barr.
She is survived by her loving children, Victor (Carolyn) Barr of Creve Coeur, MO and Judith Barr of Chicago, IL; proud grandmother to Suzanne McGownd, Cheryl Carlson, Amanda (Udhhav) Barr Kapadia, Nathan Barr and Matt Dorman; proud great-grandmother to Connor McGownd, Bailey Carlson and Garrett Carlson; extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Pontoon Baptist Church, Pontoon Beach, IL
In celebration of her life, funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Joshua Steely officiating. Betty will be laid to rest next to Blaine at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Glen Carbon, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to American Heart Association or to American Arthritis Foundation. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
