Mr. Steve “Tick” Blair age 54 of Baxter died at 8:06 a.m. Tuesday morning June 7, 2011 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was admitted Saturday morning June 4th at 5:36 after suffering a heart attack.

Funeral services by Eld. Thomas Gibbs and Eld. Jerry Driver was conducted Friday afternoon June 10th from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed the 1 p.m. services in the Blair Family lot in Ridgewood Cemetery.

One of seven children of the late Valder Wilson “Bill” Blair who died at the age of 75 on March 23, 2003 and Reba Nell Hunt Blair who died at the age of 81 on May 10, 2011, he was born Stephen Randall Blair on May 26, 1957 at Smith County Hospital and was reared in South Carthage where he attended South Carthage Elementary School and played basketball.

His wife of almost thirty years, the former Linda Jerrell Dunson, a Cookeville native, preceded Mr. Blair in death on July 10, 2010 at the age of 62.

Mr. Blair was self employed and was a distributor of automobile tires to dealer networks.

A sister Janet Carol Blair died as an infant on February 22, 1956 and a nephew, David Wilson “Woody” Woods preceded him in death on June 27, 2008.

Surviving are five siblings, Patricia Watts of Elmwood, Darlene Claywell and husband Steve of Defeated Creek, Billy Wayne Blair and wife Vickie of Hickman, Terry Blair and fiancée Carol Smith of Alexandria, Kim Autrey and husband Mike of Rawls Creek; two step children, Jody Burton and wife Sheri of Cartersville, Georgia and Tracy Brown of Baxter; three step grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
