A native of Franklin, N.C., he was the son of the late T. B. Sr. and Lula Shepherd Higdon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Bowater Carolina Corp. Paper Mill and he was a member of Biltmore Masonic Lodge No. 446 AF&AM in Asheville, N.C.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Orelia Haskett Higdon; one daughter, Brenda Lovelace of Easley, S.C.; two sons, Thomas G. Higdon of Winston Salem, N.C. and Phillip Higdon of Franklin, N.C.; four brother; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the Higdonville Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Lowe and the Rev. Ronnie Owens officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with Masonic graveside services.
