Janice Burns, 88, of Wynding Hills Rd., East Granby, left this earthly realm to join her beloved husband, Thomas G. Burns; her son, Thomas G. Burns, Jr.; and her daughter, Claire V. Burns, in heaven.

She passed away quietly in her home on November 18, 2017, leaving her five children; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren who adored her.

Born in New York, NY on June 3, 1929, daughter of the late Herman Baker and Beatrice (Brady) Baker Dehavilland, she was raised in New York and had lived in East Granby for most of her life.

Janice was a retiree from Cigna, but her primary focus was on her dearly loved husband and family, and her friends. She was a rock of support for all, and never let tragedy discourage her. Her beautiful blue eyes sparkled, and her smile was infectious to all. Janice had the ability to speak with everyone - whether a casual acquaintance or a close friend - and loved having a chat and sharing a cup of tea with everyone!

She leaves three daughters, Laura B. Thompson and her husband Tommy of Blandford, MA, Christine E. Burns and her husband Roy Nolan of East Granby, and Grace A. Burns of Eugene, OR; two sons, Brian W. Burns of Avon, CO and John F. Burns and his wife Suzanne of Kingsport, TN; a brother, Archibald Baker and his wife Joan of Levittown, NY; seven grandchildren, MollyClaire Biros and her husband Michael of Cheshire, MA, Megan Thompson of Turners Falls, MA, Devon Thompson and his wife Victoria of Montgomery, MA, Timothy G. Stevens and his wife Janelle of Manchester, Patrick R. Burns and his wife Kristi of Scottsdale, AZ, and Robert Burns and Jared Burns both of Kingsport, TN; and seven great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Tenley, and Berkley Biros, Carter Kos, Liam Thompson, and Hope and Reid Stevens.

Calling hours on December 5, at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, Granby.

A Mass of Christian Burial, also on Dec. 5, at St. Bernard Church, Tariffville.

Burial followed in St. Bernard Cemetery, Tariffville.

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of family members who have been touched by cancer, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St, I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
