Born August 6, 1931 in Catawba Co., he was the son of the late Eugene Burns and Mabel Stewart Burns.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Manta Lee Mitchell Burns, sisters, Lela Kale, Martha Ritchie; and brothers, John Porter Burns, Marvin Burns and Frank Burns.
Mr. Burns was a member of First Baptist Church. He was CEO of Henry Burns Construction. He was a volunteer Fireman and Charter Member of Fairbrook Volunteer Fire Dept., a member of the Professional Construction Estimators Association, Home Builder Association of Catawba Co., and Foothills Antique Power Assoc.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Burns of Anderson, SC.; sons, Henry Walters Burns, Jr. of Hickory, Phillip Lee Burns of Newton; granddaughters, Melissa Carpenter and husband Trent of Anderson, SC, Alexis Burns of Newton; grandson, Jacob Lee Burns of Newton; great-grandson, Andrew Carpenter of Anderson, SC; and sister, Lena Goble of Spartanburg, SC.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Catawba Valley Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Pat Pearce officiating. Mr. Burns will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
