Born to William Templeton (1805-1895) of North Carolina & Rachel Lydia Anderson Templeton (1805-1892) of Tennessee, who married Feb. 2, 1826, in White County, TN.

Pleasant enlisted as a private in Co. K, 16th Tennessee Infantry, CSA, on Sept. 15, 1862, in Sparta, TN. He left sick at Shelbyville, TN, on Feb. 27, 1863, and rejoined command on March 3, 1863. He was promoted to corporal on May 5, 1863. He had stoppage on pay for one cap box and 24 caps for $2.20. He was on the roll of April 1864.

Federal records indicate he was wounded at the Battle of Franklin on Nov. 30, 1864, and captured at Franklin, TN (apparently in the hospital) on Dec. 18, 1864 by Federals. He died later that month as the result of a gunshot wound penetrating his left lung. He was 20 years old.

Records indicate he was from White Co., TN and buried in grave #10768 in the Nashville City Cemetery. His next of kin was listed as William Templeton of White Co. He was returned home for burial on Nov. 29, 1865, per undertaker's records, and reinterred in the Templeton Cemetery in White County, TN.

This cemetery is about 100 yards off the road hidden in woods beside a pasture on Conrad Templeton Road. You have to step over two electric fences to get to it. There are about 25-30 graves. It was very over grown in 2006. It was located again in 2016.
