Bernard Cuffee Sr., of the 2300 block of Holland Road, a mechanic, died March 16, 1994, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mr. Cuffee was born in Norfolk County. He was employed with Master Auto and was a member of Gabriel's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Lee Cuffee of Portsmouth; eight sons, Leonard C. Cuffee, Stanley L. Cuffee and Anthony Cuffee, all of Portsmouth, Sgt. FFC Bernard Cuffee Jr. of Fort Knox, Ky., Henry Cuffee of N.C., and James Johnson, Kelvin Caudal and Keith Cuffee, all of Chesapeake; four daughters, Gloria Austin, Barbara Reese and Tracy McPherson, all of Chesapeake and Jacquline McPherson of Virginia Beach; seven sisters, Bessie Norman, Mamie Cuffee and Marie Cuffee, all of Chesapeake and Myrle Christian of Virginia, Delores Spence, Brenda Cuffee and Trina Cuffee, all of Chesapeake; five brothers, Robert L. Cuffee Jr. and Russell Cuffee, both of Chesapeake, and Angelo Cuffee, Melvin Cuffee and Wayne Cuffee, all of Richmond; and 24 grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Gabriel Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Cary Johnson. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. The remains will be ready for viewing at 4 p.m. Friday. The family will assemble at 11 a.m. for the processional at his home.
