Services for Paul E. Propst were held in the First Christian Church in Marfa. Graveside services were under the direction of the Marfa Masonic Lodge No. 596. He came to Texas following his marriage in Illinois. He was employed in San Antonio for some time and came to Marfa in 1916 where he was employed as a mechanic at Camp Marfa during World War I. During that time, his wife died. In 1920, he was appointed supervisor of highway maintenance and lived with his family in Fort Davis. In 1913, he married Mrs. H.G. McHenry, Sr, who was employed by the Marfa State Bank in a clerical position. In 1925, he moved to Presidio to farm. After a few years, he acquired the Presidio Water System. He served as a member of the Board of Trustees during the period that the present school was built. Later, in the 1930s, he was supervisor for the Farm Security Administration over a large West Texas district. During World War Ii, he was water superintendent at the Marfa Air Filed. Early this year, Mr. and Mrs. Propst, with Mrs. Propst's mother, Mrs. Susan Pearce returned to Presidio from Alpine where they lived for several years. Survived by his wife; one stepson; three children from his first marriage - Mrs. R.G. Berkeley, Mrs. Charles E. Pattison, and Graydon E. Propst; four brothers - George L, D.L., Glen A, and Charles H. Propst; two sisters - Mrs. A.C. Lunday, Mrs. W.F. Flickinger; four grandchildren.
