Ernestine's attended Academy High School. She married Frederick W. "Corky" Thompson Sr. in 1947, and they were married 66 years. She worked for many years at Elgin Electronics before retiring. She was an avid bowler, and played in many tournaments. She was a talented seamstress and upholsterer, and she enjoyed cooking and baking.
In addition to her husband who died November 5, 2013, Ernestine was preceded in death by her brother, James E. Prosperi; and her son-in-law, Elwood Niemeyer.
Survivors in the family include her three children: Frederick "Corky" Thompson II and his wife Eve, Linda Niemeyer, and Patti Davey and her husband Terrence; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Burial in Waterford Cemetery.
