Mr. Eugene "Gene" Howard, born February 27, 1935 to the late Joe Howard and Lillian Howard Cooper, passed away peacefully Monday, November 20, 2017. He was the fifth of six siblings, all deceased.
Gene served in the United States Army. He attended the Newport News Public School System. He was also a great C.B. Radio Enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rev. Odell B. Howard; two sons, Eugene Howard, Jr. and Tony Howard; one grandson, Tony Knight; one great-granddaughter, Tamika Knight; one great-granddaughter, Brianna Knight; one great-grandson, Christopher Knight; two brothers-in-law, Leon Blunt (Sharon), Linwood Blunt Jr. (Charlene); three sisters-in-law, Doris L. Epps, Linda White (Kerry), Gloria Jean Gibbs (Raynard); step-mother-in-law, Minister Catherine Blunt, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Viewing will be held 11:00 a.m. to 3p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th St., NN, Va. The Celebration of Gene's life will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2017 at the funeral home. The Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
