Funeral services will be 10AM Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., in East Moline.
Entombment will be at St. Mary's Mausoleum in East Moline. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Black Hawk Area Special Education.
Ellen was born September 6, 1945 in Lansing, Michigan a daughter of Robert Manley and Violet G. (DeBarr) Cramer.
She was later adopted by Laurena Cramer after the death of her mother. Ellen attended Resurrection High School in Lansing and later graduated from Michigan State University
with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology minoring in Accounting and Psychology.
She married William “Bill” Patrick Norman on July 12, 1975 in Rock Island, Illinois.
Bill and Ellen were married for 42 years. Ellen was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in East Moline.
She worked at Black Hawk Area Special Education District (BHASED) for many years. After retirement she spent much of her time watching her grandsons who affectionately called her “Muma”.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Bill of East Moline, daughter: Jacqueline “Jackie” Michelle (Jeremy) Norman Gray of Abilene, TX, her beloved grandsons: Jackson Douglas and Henry William Gray both of Abilene; two sisters: DeAnna (Ken) Williams of Whigham, GA; and Rita (Bud) Terry of Portage, MI; father-in-law Doug Norman, East Moline IL.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert, and mothers: Violet and Laurena.
Ellen was adored by all who knew her. She was kind, thoughtful, and giving to all her family and friends.
Ellen enjoyed spending time with her family most of all.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her best friend, Eileen, who filled her last weeks with love and comfort.
