Obituary for Joe Don Hilliard
Joe Don was born January 13, 1965 in McAlester, OK to Joe Dewayne & Mary Jane (Cowell) Hilliard. He died Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Sulphur, at the age 52 years 10 months and 15 days.

Joe Don grew up in Sulphur. Following his 1983 graduation from Sulphur High School, he began working for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation Survey Division. Joe Don retired in October 2016 with 32 years of service with ODOT.

Joe Don was a very active volunteer with the Sulphur Kids Association, spending many years coaching little league baseball teams and assisting with the construction and maintenance of the fields. He was an avid fan of OU Sooners Football, as well as both Sulphur and Davis High School Football. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling and barbequing with his friends and family. Joe Don was a devoted member of the Central Church of Believers and loved being with his church family.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Hilliard; four sons, Tanner Hilliard, Tyler Hilliard, Taylor Campbell and Brandon Cook; one grandson, Tripp Campbell; three sisters, Shelia Goodman, Donna Parenti and Christy Hilliard; his best friend, Diane Birkes; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; as well as his dog, Rocky.

Joe Don was preceded in death by one son, Cody Wayne Hilliard; his father, Joe Hilliard; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

Serving as pallbearers were Charlie Summers, Les Halsell, Ronnie Fondren, Bill Lance, Taylor Campbell, Tyler Hilliard, Brandon Cook and Mark Walck. Honorary bearers were Danny Hilliard, Wes Hilliard, Anthony Parenti, Mike Martin, Steven Martin and H.D. “Crawdad” Brantley.
