Liz was a bookkeeper for the Womens Health Center of Charleston. She was also a co-owner of Rodericks Painting and Wallpaper Company. Liz volunteered in her retirement at HospiceCare until her illness. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church and served as a vestry member and Op Shop Treasurer. She served on the board of Kanawha Valley Village People.
Born, January 5, 1939, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to the late James Post and Eliza Stringham Morton Borland. She attended Shady Hill School and graduated as Valedictorian of her class at Belmont High School. She attended Radcliffe College and received her degree in social work. She married Gardner Stultz on June 17, 1960 and had three daughters (Laura Katherine Stultz, Karen Stultz Connolly and Jan Stultz DArcy). On May 2, 1977, she married Andrew V. Roderick. She and Andy were married 29 years until his death in 2006. On July 12, 2008, she married Gaylen Quentin Nix. He remained lovingly by her side until her death. Liz had many interests and hobbies including woodworking, collecting, and travelling the world. She visited all of the continents on the globe and enjoyed adventure.
Liz is survived by her husband, Gaylen Quentin Nix, daughters, Laura Stultz of Birmingham, AL, Karen Stultz Connolly of Cork, Ireland and Jan Stultz DArcy of Malvern, PA; stepchildren Mary Roderick Allison, Stacy Roderick Berry, Michael Roderick, Daniel Roderick and Jane Nix; and her loving grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Andrew V. Roderick, her brother Charles Randolph Borland and her stepson Lawrence Larry Roderick.
The family would like to give special thanks to her caregiver Delores Day, the supportive staff at the Arthur B. Hodges Center and the nurses and staff at Hubbard Hospice House.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 2 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston.
Funeral service followed by reception will be held on Sunday, September 3 at 4 p.m. at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Charleston, WV, with The Rev. Marquita L. Hutchens officiating.
