He was a German doctor and resistance fighter against National Socialism. Groscurth and his wife Anneliese were arrested during their leave on September 4, 1943. On December 16, 1943 he was sentenced to death by the People's Court for "preparation for high treason" and "enemy favoritism". The death sentence was used by the judges at the People's Court, Roland Freisler and Hans-Joachim Rehse. Georg Groscurth was beheaded in the Brandenburg-Görden penitentiary.Groscurth was a german doctor and a resistance-fighter in the "Third Reich".
Together with the chemist Robert Havemann, the architect Herbert Richter-Lukian and the dentist Paul Rentsch he founded a resistance-organisation called "Widerstandsgruppe Europäische Union".
They hid Jews and fugitives. Whenever he could do, Groscurth certified soldiers unfit for combat duty.
He died in the penintentiary in Brandenburg-Görden after the Nazi's sentenced him to death.
