Annabelle D. Dreadfulwater-Candy was born on July 23rd, 1933 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of John and Fannie (Smith) Dreadfulwater. Her mother Fannie would later marry Dick Manus, and he raised Annabelle along with her two sisters, Jeanie and Mary. She attended Chilocco Indian School and later graduated from Bagley High School in Tahlequah. In 1967, she married Roy Candy in Tahlequah, OK, and together they enjoyed 18 years and raised a family of 8 children. Annabelle worked all of her life, as a CDIB certification coder for the BIA and later at Baldor. She was also a very talented seamstress creating unique Tear Dress designs as well as clothes for her family. She was happiest when outdoors, fishing, hunting, or gathering wild onions and mushrooms. She raised vegetable gardens and put up her produce, and later turned it into wonderful meals for her family. She made the best rolls, Indian Fry Bread and numerous other comfort foods. She loved to start her day having coffee and breakfast with her family, and continued this with her daughter until her passing. There was nothing that brought her more pride than watching her children and grandchildren play sports of any kind, but especially baseball and softball. She was strong willed with a stubborn streak; she had an opinion on just about everything and would let you know exactly how she felt. Yet under the strong exterior was the heart of a woman who's door was open to everyone. If you needed it and she had it, it was yours for the asking. Her health began to fail her and she remained close to home. She passed from this life on November 29th, 2017 at her home with her loved ones by her side. She was 84 years old. She will be greatly missed. She has gone on to join her mother, father, her sister, Mary Aneal, her husband Roy, her grandparents, William and Emma Smith and her children, Dickie Dale Candy and Jackie Barnett. Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 4th, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Mollie Fields Cemetery with Pastor Allen Nevel officiating.
