Pearl I. Murphy, 81, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday morning at her home.
Born Dec. 23, 1935, in Pine Grove Township, she was a daughter of the late Earl O. and Anna R. Brown Hummel.
Pearl was a member of the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, Pine Grove. She loved going out and enjoyed socializing with people.
She was preceded in death by her son, Roy E. Kaufman, on March 18, and her husband, Eugene A. Murphy, on July 11, 2010.
Surviving are four sons, William Kaufman, Branchdale, Richard Kaufman, Pine Grove, Perry Kaufman, Pottsville, and Joe Kaufman, Donaldson; daughter, Nancy Kemp, Knoxville, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Freida D'Agostino, and brother, Marlin Hummel, both of Pine Grove; her companion, Jonathan "Sonny" Brooks, with whom she resided in Ashland; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Richard Hoffman officiating. There will be a viewing from noon until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Hetzel's Cemetery, Pine Grove.
