Daniel Alan Russell, 70, of Tuscola, IL, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital, Breese, IL
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Tuscola United Methodist Church, 901 North Prairie Street, Tuscola, IL, with Rev. Ted Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL.
Dan was born on May 31, 1947 in Tuscola, IL, the son of Jacob O. “Shorty” and Cordelia Moore Russell. He married Patty L. Heath on June 11, 1972 in Tuscola, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his children: Jody (Joe) Liddy and their children: Macy, JP, Daisy and Mia of Inverness, IL, Jamey (Lance Gephart) Spartz and their children: Alexa and Jarrett of Glendale, AZ, Toby (Kim) Russell and their children: Zachary and Grace of Wheaton, IL and Travis (Holly) Russell and their son: Jacob of Oswego, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dan received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Illinois University. Prior to his retirement, he taught for 33 years in the Tuscola Community School District. Dan was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church, Tuscola Kiwanis Club and Douglas County Retired Teacher’s Association. He enjoyed photography and was an avid photographer.
Memorials are suggested to the Tuscola United Methodist Church or to the TUMC Youth Program.
