Barrett, Patsy R., 77, of Sun City Center, passed away November 26, 2017 at her home.
Patsy was born in Austin, Texas on August 20, 1940. She graduated from Austin High School in 1958 and went on to attend Texas Lutheran College for a time. After returning home, she graduated from Business College with a degree. Patsy then went to work for American Bank in a part-time position until the end of summer where she was promoted to a permanent position in the check processing department. After several promotions and department changes, she was asked to be a teller. She went to the Texas Industrial Accident Board where she worked until she met Dave.

They were married on August 31, 1968 where she gained 3 step-children and 3 step-grandchildren. She continued to work until 1970 when she delivered her first son, Joseph. They had their second son, Mark, in 1972. In 1977, the family moved to Dayton, Ohio where she gained 2 step-grandchildren. During the next 5 years, she became a sports mother as her sons competed in all sports available to them. Between 1981 and 1995, they moved to Sanford, Fla. and Charleston, SC before finally settling in Sun City Center. During this period, she became a step-grandmother to 7 more grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Patsy started out as a member of the Lawn Bowling Club, King's Point Clogging Club, Ceramics Club, and SCC Square Dance Club. Through the years she had to drop out of several clubs, but she joined the Low Impact Aerobics, BUCKSHOT Competition Clogging Club and she and her husband joined the SCC Emergency Squad. Eventually, she had to slow down until her involvement was reduced to Aerobics, Ceramics, and the SCC Clogging Group.

She was survived her husband of 49 years, David Barrett; sons, Joseph Barrett (Suzanne) and Mark Barrett (Sarah); 3 step-children, David, Linda, and Susan; 9 step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held at 1 pm Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Sun City Center Funeral Home in Florida.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SCC Men's Club. Sun City FH
