He was born March 2, 1954 in Gatesville, Texas to parents Sam and Nina Newman.
Services are to be held for Jimmy on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Dr., Georgetown, Texas 78633.
Jimmy married Angela Bishop, his beloved wife of thirty-four years, on April 23, 1983 in Troy, Texas. He spent many years coaching his daughters’ youth softball teams. He loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf with his good friends.
In his youth, Jimmy attended Temple College. He worked as a Foreman in the Maintenance and Operations Section at the VA Hospital in Waco, Texas. He retired from work in 2014 after thirty years of service. He was also a member of the Benevolent Order of the Elks.
Jimmy was preceded in passing by his parents, Sam and Nina Newman; and brother Dennis Newman.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Angela of Georgetown, Texas; daughter, Aimee Oldaker and husband Robert of Blanco, Texas; daughter, Jourdan Hendricks and husband Chris of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Nellie Newman of Temple, Texas; five grandchildren; and brother, Ed Newman of Moody, Texas.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Georgetown Living and Tranquility Hospice for the loving care they provided Jimmy during the past year. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
