Glenn Cyrus Carter, 92, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at his home in Independence, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday December 2nd at the Church of Jesus Christ LDS, 705 W. Walnut, Independence; burial with Military Honors will follow in New Salem Cemetery, Independence. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Glenn was born August 16, 1925 in Clinton, Missouri, the son of Ernest and Isa Pearl (Cowan) Carter. He served as a Private in the US Army during WW2. Glenn worked as a leader in the loading room for over 30 years at the Lake City Ammunition plant. He also ran an upholstery shop with his brother for many years. Glenn was very handy and a man of all trades, he even helped build homes for his friends and family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, and loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing, and was a master gardener.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; two wives: Dorothy (Williamson) Carter and Jeniene (Mellott) Carter; grandson Scott Carter; and two brothers, Bo & Bill Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; two children: Ileene McQuitty (Richard) and Galen Carter (the late Nancy), both of Clinton, MO; nine stepchildren: Kellie Sue Kunz (Vernon) of Salt Lake City, UT, Lynette Martinez (Gerardo) of Independence, Alan Creek (Margo) of Odessa, CO, Adonna Short (Grant) of Herriman, UT, Shirley Heslop (Mike) of Eagle Mountain, UT, Brad Creek (Kris) of Independence, Renee Creswell (Allen) of Liberty, MO, Jeanie Slayton (John) of Independence, and Melanie Terry (Reed) of Woodinville, WA; one brother, Charles “CB” Carter (Norma); one sister, Dorothy Spain; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
