Obituary of Clara Bresee

NORFOLK — Funeral Services for 75 year old Clara Rose "Clare" Bresee, a resident of 2 South Street, Norfolk, will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 12 noon at the United Methodist Church in Norfolk with Rev. Carl Chamberlain presiding. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Friday from 4-7 p.m.

Mrs. Bresee passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Clare is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lloyd "Red" Bresee, Norfolk; her two sons, Mike and Kate Bresee, St. Augustine, FL and Steve and Tammy Bresee, Grand Island, NY; a brother, Charles Bellinger, Massena and two sisters, Luella Bellinger, Massena and Muriel Bellinger, Norwood as well as several nieces and nephews. Clare was pre-deceased by two sisters, Iris Newtown and Katherine Herne.

Born in Gloversville, NY on February 10, 1942 to the late Earl and Elsie McLain Bellinger, Clare graduated from High School and married Lloyd "Red" Bresee on November 11, 1961. Clare was a devoted homemaker and community leader, managing Millers Pharmacy in Norfolk for many years, Clare was one of the first volunteers to work for Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, volunteering for over 20 years and was instrumental in starting the Norfolk Methodist Church's Meals on Wheels and the Whistle Stop Thrift Shop. Clare was a communicant of the Norfolk United Methodist Church and loved cooking, spending time with family and friends and just helping others out. Memorial Donations in Clare's memory can be made to the Norfolk United Methodist Church, Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley or to any under privileged children or seniors organization.
