Benjamin Gibson
April 11, 1982 - November 26, 2017

Benjamin Gibson, 35, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Sunday (November 26, 2017) at his home.

The son of Roy Lee and Laura J. (Still) Gibson Jr., he was born on Easter Sunday April 11, 1982 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Ben grew up in San Antonio, Texas until middle school when he and he his family moved to Kirksville, where he graduated in 2000. Like his grandfather and father before him, he was all or nothing. This great sense of adventure led him to places all over the world. Whether it was scuba diving off the coast of Venezuela, checking out the Red Light District of Amsterdam or getting a tattoo in Aruba, Ben was always willing to try anything! Excelling in his career choice of sales and construction, Ben never missed an opportunity to negotiate the next deal.

Family was the most important thing to Ben. His brother Clayton was his best friend. Ben’s favorite thing in the world was being the fun uncle. He cherished spending time with his nieces and nephews: Anderson, Abigail, Ellie, Roman, and Colin. He loved to teach them new things and helped them grow to be more adventurous and brave! Ben’s optimistic attitude rubbed off on everyone around him.

Benjamin is survived by his mother, Laura of Kirksville; his siblings, Sarah Svoboda and husband Ron of Shiloh, IL, Julie Dungan of Glenn Carbon, IL, and Clayton Gibson of Shiloh, IL; his nieces and nephews and his beloved dog and traveling companion, Ginger. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Gibson Jr.; his grandparents, Marian Hess, Harry Still, Rebecca Still, and Roy Gibson; one brother, Grant Gibson; and two aunts, Louise Still and Rebecca Still.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday (December 2, 2017) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday (December 3, 2017) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Runer Funeral Home with Kabir Bansal officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hills Cemetery.
