Roy John Sparks, 99, died Saturday at Melrose Manor Health Care Center. He was an Army veteran of World War I, a retired employee of the old Oertel's Brewery and a member of Clifton Baptist Church. Survivors: his wife, Dacie Sparks; two sons, Theo Nantz Jr. of Crab Orchard and Earl Nantz of Stanford; two daughters, Janice Blanton of Paoli, Ind., and Margaret Price; a sister, Florence Lemke of Baton Rouge, La.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday, Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Highway. Entombment: Evergreen Mausoleum. Visitation: after 11 a.m. Monday.
