Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm with Father Cornelius Ezeiloaku celebrating the Mass.
Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Wednesday and 7:30 – 10:30 AM Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The Christian Mother’s Society will pray the rosary at 4 PM Wednesday at the Cathedral. The Joseph’s - St. Elizabeth’s Catholic United will pray the rosary at 6 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Helen is survived by her daughters, LuAnn (Paul) Marti, Roselyn (John) Fischer and Mary Ellen (Paul) Portner all of New Ulm; sons, Michael Berg, James (Wendy) Berg all of New Ulm, Dennis (Donna) Berg of Courtland, William (Jean) Berg and Anton Berg (Helen Reiser) all of New Ulm; 20 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund Berg; son, Vernon Berg; sisters, Lauretta Schmidt, Alice McQuiston, Agnes Schaefer, Anna Zenk and Marie Stueber; and by her brothers, Otto, Alfred and Joseph Landsteiner.
Helen Mary Landsteiner was born April 9, 1924 in New Ulm to John and Ottilia (Hillesheim) Landsteiner. She attended Catholic Schools in New Ulm and was a 1942 graduate of Holy Trinity High School. Helen was united in marriage to Edmund Berg on April 8, 1947 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Sigel Township their entire lives.
She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Christian Mother’s Society and Catholic United.
