Born in Elizabethton, TN, she grew up in West Virginia and attended high school in Wytheville, VA, where she met her husband, Thomas A. Turley, Jr. They were married 69 years and moved to Oak Ridge in 1954.
Mrs. Turley enjoyed cats, books, movies, painting, working in her flower beds and playing the piano. She also wrote poetry and was a wonderful cook.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her husband one sister, Patsy Coen Light; her son, Thomas A. Turley III and wife Paula; and daughter, Margaret Catherine Turley and husband Duke C. Turman; four grandchildren, Catherine Ruth Mewbourn Turley, Bryan Thomas Mewbourn Turley and wife Miyuki, Catelin Mae Turman and Dylan Thomas Turman; and one great-grandchild, Maya Nakagawa Turley.
Family and friends will meet for a graveside service on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 1 pm at the East End Cemetery in Wytheville, VA.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Oak Ridge.
