The oldest Child of Dora and Charles Farris. Born and raised in south Nashville and lived close to this area for all his life. Matt (as he was known) work 40 years for the L & N RR, he was a fireman and engineer retiring at 62. He enjoyed the next 27 years doing wood carving, gardening, traveling. Matt could make anything out of wood, and he did for his children, grandchildren, great
grandchildren. He loved watching his grandchildren play baseball, basketball, football or any sport they were participating in. Matt was a life long Catholic and very devoted to his Church and Jesus was his best friend. Matt only had 1 Love in his life, his beloved Lillian, ( Lilly Bell as he called her). She was his Sweety. Lillian preceeded him in death by 5 days. When Matt was told of Lillian's death, his only remark was "when is the funeral", when he was told it was Monday he said "I want mine the same day". He almost made it, he died on Tuesday morning at 7:20 Am. Loved and Missed.
