Born in rural British Columbia, Edward and his family moved to Los Angeles, California, when he was 18 months old. He grew up with his older brother Raymond and their sister Doris. When Edward was in his early teen years, his parents divorced and both remarried; Edward continued living with his father. Edward graduated from Montebello High School (Montebello, CA), in 1958, where he was captain of the varsity track team. He married in about 1960 and had a son and a daughter. The marriage ended in divorce before 1967, and Edward married again. The second marriage ended in divorce by 1979; no children were born to that marriage. Edward became a naturalized citizen of the USA in 1967; his Oath of Allegiance is stamped October 27, 1967. Ed supported his family working as a plumber. Ed's daughter cared for him in his declining months and was at his side when he passed on. Ed was survived by his son and daughter, James Lawrence and Candy Lynn, and by his two granddaughters, Amanda Lauren and Alexa.
