James was the son of Sam and Elizabeth Wilson Lewis , He was born in Cape Girardeau Co., Missouri near Oak Ridge. On October 17, 1870 He and Narceney Wills were married in Cape Girardeau County where they lived until the early 1880's when they moved to near Leora, Stoddard Co., Missouri. James and Narceney had 8 children, Laura Belle , Samuel , Shabe E. , Launa , Marshal, Lucius, Oscar and William . After Narceney's death James married again, a woman from the Malden area, they had one child which was an infant when James died in 1902. The child was given up by his mother for adoption and raised by a Dr. in that area. James Lewis was my great-great-grandfather.
