Richard W. Pittman, 71, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 10th, 2016.

He was born Wednesday, February 14th, 1945 at the D.R. Sipes Hospital in Everett, a son of the late Richard E. Pittman and Thelma (Weaver) Pittman.

On May 18, 2010 at the Bedford Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints he married Pansy L. (Roberts) Pittman who survives along with his son, Richard W. Pittman, Jr., and his mother Sue (McFarland) Pittman; a sister Barbara J. Melius of Hopewell; two brothers, Merle E. Pittman and wife Faye of Everett and Roger J. Pittman and wife Lina of Carrollton, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Maureen Pittman of Hampton, Virginia and Mary Roberts of Hopewell; three brothers-in-law, George Roberts of Bedford, Sam Roberts of Bedford and Les Roberts of Tennessee, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing away by a brother Gary L. Pittman and his second wife Frances V. (Minshew) Pittman.

A graduate of Everett Southern Joint High School, Class of 1965, Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, serving for 20 years as Integrated Avionics Communications and Pen-Aids System technician and as a Avionic Navigation Systems technician until retiring. Among his many decorations, medals, badges citations and campaign ribbons were the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one device, the Distinguished Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.

After retiring from the Air Force, Richard worked at several restaurants as a cook and bus person until retiring and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan who enjoyed working word find puzzles and recycling projects. He was a dedicated husband, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
