Sammy was a son of the late Harm Matthew Long, Sr., and Blanche Stone Long. He was a master builder of anything he set his mind to and was a welder by trade. Sammy was a US Air Force veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents and seven siblings, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Long.
Surviving are a daughter, Regina Powers and husband Scott of Supply, NC; a son, Daniel Hoyle Long of Poquoson, VA; a brother, Harm Matthew Long, Sr., two grandchildren, Corey Duncan and Allie Grace Powers.
Funeral services will be at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the twenty fifth of November 2017 in White Funeral Service, Bolivia/Supply Chapel with The Reverend Anthony Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Bolivia.
