Charles Elmer Wiley passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, November 20, 2017. Charles was born to Holland Edward Wiley and Myrtle (Ray) Wiley on May 17, 1921.

Charles retired from Libby Glass in Shreveport, Louisiana and then worked for the Lynch Corporation travelling the world extensively installing glass making machinery for several years.

Charles served with distinction in World War II serving under General Patton in Company C, 206th Engineer Combat Battalion. Charles was at the battles and campaigns at Normandy, Rhineland, Northern France and Central Europe. While serving his country he earned the EAME Theater Ribbon, Four Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Ribbon. He also received the Expert Marksman Badge. Charlie, as he was known to friends and family, was truly one of America's greatest generation.

Shortly after returning from the war he met and married the love of his life, Mamie May Ellen Bell. They spent sixty-two years together until Mamie's death in 2008. Together they had four children.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mamie, brothers, Johnny Wiley, Floyd Wiley, Clarence Wiley, Raymond Wiley, Howard (Dude) Wiley and Maynard Wiley. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Dessie Bilow, Lois Cowan and Ruby Slater. Also preceding him in death were daughter, Peggy Harris and granddaughter, Amanda Williams and half-brother, Tom Williams.

He is also survived by numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three sisters-in-laws, and brother-in-law.

Charles deeply loved and cared for his family. Anytime any of his or Mamie's family or friends needed help, he was always ready and willing to do what he could to help. He was a generous man with a big heart. He was proud of his country and was a committed Democrat. He also loved his dogs, horses, chickens and any other pet that wandered into his life. He was also an avid baseball fan. For someone like Charlie to have lived through the Great Depression and served in World War II along with three of his brothers who all survived the war and a fourth brother who later became a Marine, we can never understand or express our gratitude enough for all his family endured to ensure we could all live our lives as freely as we do today. We can only hope that he realized to many of us he was our hero and how much he was loved and admired and how much he will be missed. Charlie, Dad, Grandpa, Friend, it is now your turn to Rest In Peace and be reunited with all your lost loved ones. God Bless You.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Smith Funeral Chapel, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Interment to follow at Sunrise Cemetery, Kellyville, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
