Janice Kay Barron Hicks, 72 of Corsicana, passed away Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017. She was born June 4, 1945 in Austin to Lano and Yonia Belle Prince Barron. Kay touched the lives of many youngsters as a counselor in Drane Middle School for over 30 years. She was especially attentive to the State Home and IOOF students. She loved every student and they loved her. After retirement Kay spent many hours in her yard with her flowers and her decorations. She was an avid gardener and decorator. She never missed a holiday without some kind of decoration. Kay was the perfect model of a lady (beautiful inside and out.) She will be missed by all those who knew her.
Kay is preceded in death by her father, R. Lano Barron; mother Yonia Belle Prince Barron.
She is survived by husband Billy Hicks; children, Robert Todd Hicks and wife Jamie, Charles Ralston Hicks and wife Trish, Marjorie Elizabeth Joyner and husband Mark, Anna Janine Maples and husband Steve; grandchildren, Kaelin Hicks, Macie Hicks, Victoria Plemons, William Johnson, Britt Betts, Tanya Betts, Lee Tammell, Waylon Trammell; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Bobby Barron and wife Janice; nephews and nieces, Chad Barron, Jerrod Null, Amber Null, Emily Null; cousins, Bob Prince and J.C. Prince.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Steven Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Waylon Trammell, William Johnson, Lee Trammell, Jarrod Null, Grant Plemons, Chad Barron.
