Caroline Martin Lane, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, with her family by her side. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 26, 2017, at 2:00pm at Harvest Church, 3322 Hwy 41, Byron, with services immediately following at 3:00pm. Born in Savannah, to the late Dr. Robert Vincent Martin and Annie Phoebe Dunwoody Martin, Miss Caroline was a 1942 graduate of Savannah High School, where she was crowned Miss Savannah High. She attended the University of Georgia and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and the Colonial Dames. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was a longtime member of Saint Andrews Episcopal Church and very active in the Episcopal Church Women of Saint Andrews. She also regularly attended Harvest Church in recent years with her children and grandchildren. Her church family was very important to her. Miss Caroline had many friends in the community and was always looking to help anyone in need. Her selflessness and desire to help others truly defined her compassionate heart and giving spirit. She was a true Southern Belle.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Anne Lane Tribble, son in law Bill Tribble, brother, Robert Vincent Martin Jr., sister Anne Martin Anderson, and son in law Phillip Rigdon Sr. The Lane family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Homestead Hospice and all of Miss Carolines caretakers over the last 3 years.
