Mary Ann, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed on November 8, 2017 while at home in Auburn, Washington.
Mary Ann was born at the family home on March 8, 1936 on a farm in Newfolden, Minnesota. When they sent for the doctor, he was not available. He was at Mary Ann's sister Edith's house delivering her baby. Mary Ann's Aunt Gladys was at the house so she had the job to deliver Mary Ann!

As a young girl she moved many times with her family and attended many one-room school houses. She graduated from Alvarado High School in 1954 and married her lifetime partner, Milo Brekke on September 27th that same year. Milo was in the Army when they married and was stationed at Fort Hood Texas where they got a 2-room apartment close to base that had a bath tub made of wood and lined with tin. They later moved to an apartment that was a converted chicken coop.

After Milo was discharged they moved back to Minnesota and farmed for a short time. With both Milo and Mary Ann having sisters living in Washington State, they decided to move to Seattle in 1957. Shortly after moving, Mary Ann got a job at a bank in downtown Seattle where she went on to hold several positions and Milo got a job at Boeing.

Milo and Mary Ann bought their first house in Seattle in 1963 and bought their second house in Auburn in 1966 where they set up their permanent home together and raised their family. Mary Ann worked as a homemaker while raising their children and later worked as a para-educator for the Federal Way School District.

Upon retirement she and Milo traveled often enjoying camping and road trips in their RV. Together they took several cruises and loved to travel with their siblings. Mary Ann devoted many years to volunteer work at her church and local charities, where countless others benefitted from her kindness, exceptional compassion, and many talents. She enjoyed several hobbies and interests ranging from sewing, cooking/baking, crocheting, embroidering, gardening, and singing. Mary Ann valued her time with her family and friends and her unwavering faith and love of Christ above all else.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 63 years, Milo Allen Brekke, her sister Loretta Sourdif, her children Merle Dean Brekke (Jana Brekke), Colleen Marie Florio-Montgomery, and Loreen Elizabeth Brekke, and by her three grandchildren Allison Taylor Montgomery, Alexandra Leigh Montgomery, and Anna Christine Russell as well as many other friends and family.
