Bessie Mae Franklin, age 94, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Franciscan Care Center Sylvania.

She was born on November 7, 1922, to Earlie and Marvella Foster in Creigh, Arkansas. Bessie was a domestic worker for many years. She retired from Mercy Hospital in Toledo after 20 years. She was a member of the Mercy College Auxillary.

Bessie Franklin was a devout Christian and faithful member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church for 56 years serving as a deaconess and in many other ministries.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charley A. Franklin; 8 brothers; and 3 sisters. Bessie is survived by daughters, Harriet Allen and Lillian Harris; grandchildren, Ralph Harris, Carl Harris, and Aisha Allen; brother, Floyd (Nettie) Foster; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation will be Monday, June 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. James H. Willis, Sr. officiant. Interment in St. Charles, Illinois.
