Joshua Chay Porter, 11 yr. old Chadbourn student of Williams Township School, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents George Henry and Diane Edwards. Chay leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Crystal E. Mathews of the home, father Jody Porter and step-mom Brenda of Bladenboro; paternal grandparents Ray and Janice Porter; brother Casey Porter of Bladenboro, step-sister Macy Blackman of Bladenboro, Uncle Mike Edwards and fiance Christy; Uncle Burman Porter and wife Robin, Aunt Renee Bryan and husband Gary and several cousins who he loved.
Chay was a very sweet, humble and loving young man. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, video games, camping and playing with legos, especially policemen and firemen sets. He always said he wanted to be a policeman or fireman when he grew up. Chay was a good student and his favorite time of the school day was his bible class. He also enjoyed riding the four wheeler with his brother, swimming in the pool, monster trucks, helping his mom cook and helping Uncle Mike build things. Chay was an absolute joy to be around and he will be missed by all that knew him.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Northside Baptist Church, 898 Sunset Park Rd., Bladenboro. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 25th at 2 pm at Northside Baptist Church. Burial will follow the services in the Porter Family Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for all the prayers, calls, cards and other acts of kindness showed to their family during this difficult time, also a special thank you to all the teachers and staff of Williams Township School and to all the churches who have ministered to the family during this time.
