He begin working for the La Crosse Fire Dept. in 1926, retiring as a captain, in 1953. He was employed by Northern Plastics from 1953 until 1964.
Survivors are his widow; one daughter and three sons; nine grandchildren; and one sister. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
In July 1942, Elmer visited his daughter who was working in Washington DC for the Army.
