Carl Bryon Hughey of Battle Creek, died Friday November 17, 2017 at Borgess Medical Center.

Carl was born February 24, 1936 in Eaton Rapids, MI to Arthur and Lillian (Smith) Hughey. Carl was a graduate of Eaton Rapids High School in 1954 and enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduation.

Carl married the former Linda Hegner on April 6, 1957 and worked in construction with Kirkland Homes and Service Soft water conditioning and Post Cereal prior to serving as manager of the Sears service department for 30 years , retiring in 1990. In retirement, Carl still did repair work at his home and enjoyed making their home a special place. He also enjoyed, spending time at his cabin in Hersey, MI. Carl kept in contact with other Sears’s retirees and often attended lunches with them. He was a former member of the Community Church of Urbandale. Carl is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Hughey, a daughter, Cindy (Gary) Noaeill, of Battle Creek, sons, Marty (Dorene) Hughey of Battle Creek, Jeff (Michele) Hughey, of Pleasant Lake, MI, and Trevor (Karen Andersen) Hughey, of Battle Creek, fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, sisters Marlene “Peannie” Colgan of Eaton Rapids, MI, and Donna (Al) Keller of Delton, a brother, Max Hughey of Kalamazoo. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Arthur “Sonny” Hughey. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Saturday November 25th at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd. Private family services will be held. Memorials may be given to the Michigan Heart Association .
