BLOOMING PRAIRIE — The funeral for Ralph Lee Berg will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, with the Rev. Richard Hegal officiating. Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Blooming Prairie, with military honors provided by VFW Post 878 and American Legion Post 52.

Mr. Berg, 82, of Blooming Prairie, died Saturday (Oct. 7, 2006) at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

He was born April 17, 1924, in Lake Wilson, Minn. After completing his education he served in the Air Force during World War II, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. After his discharge on Oct. 20, 1945, he farmed and worked as a crop insurance adjuster. On July 31, 1967, he married Geraldyne Schmidtke in Elkton, S.D. They made their home near Bixby. He retired in June 1993. He enjoyed restoring Oliver tractors and displaying them at area shows. He also enjoyed fishing and was a member of First Lutheran Church, VFW, American Legion, the Hiawatha Chapter of American ex-POW and the Great Northern Oliver Collectors Club.
