Funeral services for Mr. Roy L. Crawford, age 90, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Wrightsville Church of the Nazarene with burial to follow at Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Crawford was born April 27, 1927 in Wrightsville, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late, William James Crawford and Jessie Mae Sumner Crawford and his wife, Beverly Ann Chambers Crawford. He was a lifelong resident of Johnson County and he graduated from Wrightsville High School in 1945. He served as a mariner in the Merchant Marines during World War II. From 1966 until 1986, he served as volunteer Fire Chief for the City of Wrightsville. He was awarded the Mr. Woodmen medallion and the Woodmen Commendable Service Plaque from Modern Woodmen of the World and he also received many appreciation awards from the Wrightsville Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of the Wrightsville Church of the Nazarene and was the owner of Roy Crawford Contracting. Mr. Crawford passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. November 25, 2017 at the church.
