CANNON FALLS -- The funeral for Floyd R. Beckman will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls, with the Rev. Arthur Sharot officiating. Interment will be in Cannon Falls Cemetery.
Mr. Beckman, 83, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, died Monday (March 19, 2007) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Floyd Reuben Beckman was born Sept. 30, 1923, at home in Cannon Falls Township, Goodhue County. He attended rural school in Cannon Falls Township and farmed the family farm near Cannon Falls. He helped many local residents with their garden plowing; he also helped with mowing and maintenance at Cannon Falls Fairgrounds and Cannon Falls Golf Course. He later worked with Hi-Quality Sand and Gravel and for many years was employed by Cannon Equipment, from which he eventually retired. He enjoyed riding his bike and scooter, and he built birdhouses and whirligigs.
There are no immediate survivors. He is survived by three nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
