Jack D. Caldwell, 1st Lt. USMC, Ret. 86, of Wichita Falls passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Ft. Sill National Cemetery with Pastor Mike Rucker, officiating.

He was born on January 26, 1931 to the late Asa B. and Wilmouth (Bragg) Caldwell in Widen, West Virginia. He had 10 siblings, two of which survive, a younger brother and a much beloved sister, Wanda Lee. In 1948, he moved to New York and joined the service. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Serving during the Korean War; he was wounded and received the Purple Heart, the Joint Services Commendation and numerous other medals. He was a proud member of the "Chosin Few". Jack served two tours in Vietnam in 1963-1964 and 1967-1968. He worked his way up in rank from PFC to 1st Sgt and received a battlefield commission to 1st Lt. Jack retired in March 1969.

Jack was preceded in death by granddaughter, Jani Marie (Caldwell) Hawkey.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca (Becky) Caldwell of the home; four children: Annabelle Lee Yoho and Carl Gordon Caldwell, both of Topeka, Kansas, Eric Vaughn Caldwell of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Todd Darnell Dodson of the home; four grandchildren: Eli Lee Bargmann of Overland Park, Kansas, Jeremy Caldwell Yoho and Emily Marie Yoho, both of Topeka, Kansas, and Dylan Blake Swann of Lakeland, Florida; and four great-grandchildren: Gideon Lucus Yoho of Overland Park, Kansas, Joel Elliot Yoho and Beau Allen Coffman, both of Topeka, Kansas, and Bryleigh Rose Swann of Mulberry, Florida.
